While on vacation in Upstate New York, Kirmayer the Teddy Bear, the subject of three Teddy Bear Picture Books (see http//:www.cuteteddybearsite.com) fell in a lake. After several failed efforts to get him completely dry, like sitting in the sun, use of a hair dryer, and even stting in a sauna, he still had a bit of an odor from moisture inside of him. We were afraid we might have to take him back to the NewYork Teddy Bear Hospital, for a complete re-stuffing. However, a young woman working in a toy store in Niagara Falls suggested we try putting him in a laundromat dryer and the next day we nervously did. We started at the lowest temperature and slowly raised the temperature because there was a warning sign about putting plasic in the dryer, and Kirmyir's eyes are plastic. Finally, after about 20 minutes, and checking him about 4 or 5 times, he was completely dry and has been so ever since.. Kirmayir remained happy and optimistic during this crisis despite his being raised by over-protective parents. In fact he thought of the dryer as like a ride in an amusement park and he asked us to take him back again. But we are not going to do that; we are just very happy things are back to normal.
